'Pater Noster' artist's book

PATER NOSTER

1988. 25 X 27cm (closed).
Edition of 5 similar but not identical copies.
The Latin text of the Lord's Prayer
is embossed onto Fabriano paper coloured with inks and acrylic. The pages increase in size forming a stairway when pulled out. The book is covered with painted fabric, decorated with felt and embroidery and is held in a painted wrapper. I
thought of this work as a portable altar, a joyful prayer.

'Handmade' artist's book
HANDMADE
1987. 28 X 33cm.
One-of-a-kind.
I made the cover from objects which were lying around in the workshop of
a friend who had a vacuum-forming machine that I wanted to try. Later I printed the book pages, repeating the hand theme with collage and blind-embossing on handmade paper.
An example of serendipity meeting technology, or vice-versa.

PRIVATE COLLECTION, U.S.A.

concertina artist's book

I'D RATHER BE A MASOCHIST THAN AN ANALYST
1988. 23.5 X 20cm (closed).
One-of-a-kind.
Monoprinting, acrylic and collage of phrases cut from newspapers.
The title says it all. Humour often seems to creep in, especially when I'm thinking about serious subjects.
